Preview: Spewer

When Edmund Mcmillen called this game one of his most ambitious flash games to date, I had to give it a shot.

Most of his games can take from a couple of days to a couple of weeks to make, but this game took 3 months. Spewer is a platformer by Edmund Mcmillen and Eli Piilonen with an interesting mechanic. You can vomit, swim in your own vomit, and then eat your vomit. Barfing can accomplish many things in this game. Need to jump higher? Vomit. Need to create another platform because there is a large pit of spikes under your feet? Vomit. By using a variety of different abilities (pertaining to vomit, of course) there is a lot of room for level design, and judging by the 55+ levels that are packed into this game, you'll be playing this game for a good while. As with Edmund's previous IGF nominated title Coil, this game has a narrative that players have to make up for their own minds. You can catch Spewer when it is released on May 4th.
